Week of January 6, 2014

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great break! This week will be my last week at school before I start my maternity leave. I’d like to thank all the parents and students for their support during this time. I’m excited (and nervous) to begin this new chapter of my life and the Good Shepherd family has been great the last several months.  Mrs. Sarah Mirasol will be the sub while I am gone. She will begin on Monday and I will be there all week to help with the transition.

This will also be the last blog post. All updates/news/announcements will be posted on Edmodo by Mrs. Mirasol. Please make sure someone in the family has an Edmodo account linked up to the 2nd grade group.

For Monday- Science Experiment

We will be starting a new unit (plants) in Science next week. We will begin the unit with an experiment using plants to dye fabric.
Maite (Kiki’s mom) will be coming in to lead the experiment. There a few things we will need from the class:
What we need:

1) the dry skin around the brown onions–the more the better. (Supermarkets often peel away some of the outer layers of brown skin. If they ask often the supermarket will happily give them the skins.)

2) Big glass containers, like the wedding drink dispensers or ice tea containers. Glass is best for this. Since space is an issue, big is best as I only want to use 4 containers for the entire class–but if they are small we will use more containers.
